    Rare First Reprint September 1938

    HC with colored embossed cover

This novel is based on the true story of the author's fantastic aunt Henriette Deluzy-Desportes, a French governess who fell in love with her employer Charles de Choiseul, Duke of Praslin When Duc de Praslin's wife was murdered, Henriette Deluzy-Desportes was implicated in the murder. .

This book was widely trending and re-printed several times in 1938. Look at that signature page in the beginning was made into a film starring Bette Davis as Henriette in 1940.

My pre-loved books may show signs of shelf wear or use, which may include smudges, tears, fading, bumped corners, label or tape evidence, etc... whole giving the look of having been read and loved - and making for a charming and "authentic" home decor choice.

This book is in good condition considering its age
