Found among my late mother’s belongings, alongside other collected and preserved relics. “A real piece of the USS Constitution (called Old Ironsides) — the exceptionally legendary ship in US history! The USS Constitution was first built in 1794 and participated in many key conflicts, including Tripoli and the War of 1812. It has been through many large-scale restorations — and is currently afloat in Boston Harbor! — but this plaque was created with material retrieved from the ship's original hull when it underwent major repairs in 1927.The USS Constitution Museum includes one of these plaques on display.
